Job Details

The Hawaii of Canada!  Victoria and Vancouver Island, BC.

Vancouver Island (British Columbia) has a reputation as the "Hawaii of Canada", so named by many residents. The Island is full of little known but amazing spots where a visit will truly enhance your life. In fact, one of these spots is the source of this reputation. An incredible one-kilometre white sandy beach with aquamarine coloured water can be enjoyed on a day trip to Tribune Bay Provincial Park on Hornby Island. The water reaches near tropical temperatures in the late summer – perfect for you and your family to enjoy a swim.

In January, the coldest month, expect average temperatures of 8C high and 5C low. Absolutely the warmest in all of Canada.

With it’s proximity to nature, the sea, lovely towns and farm to table eating, it’s no wonder Travel and Leisure magazine has again named Vancouver Island as a top destination in Canada.

You can live and practice near the capital city of Victoria. Whether you are new-to-practice or an experienced GP, we have some terrific openings where your gross earnings will be $400,000 - $500,000 (£250,000 - £290,000) per annum.   Victoria has an average of 306 sunny days and half as much rain as Vancouver; we think the weather is great and so will you, as we live here!  Victoria is the most British city in all of Canada.

NOTE: We also have other medical clinics throughout the island, so contact us to discuss where would be the right community for you and your family.

We are especially looking for one GP with an interest in Maternity.   And one GP with an interest as a drug addiction specialist. And other extraordinary GP's as well.

The clinics we represent are Tier 1 clinics offering:

  • experienced medical office assistants.
  • supportive owners.
  • a professional environment.
  • 8-hour practice days and autonomy to set your own hours.
  • opportunity to pursue your interests.
  • choice of patients.
  • extremely appreciate patients.

Some facts about Vancouver Island:

  • half the size of Ireland.
  • population of almost one million people.
  • year-round festivals, concerts, and professional sports, farm-to-table food, shopping,
  • very healthy, active residents, who love mother nature.
  • 128 provincial parks, marine parks and ecological reserves for you to get outside.
  • 33 regional parks.
  • more hiking and walking trails than one can count where you can immerse yourself in natural beauty, reduce stress and reconnect with Mother Nature.
  • Big tree forests, salmon fishing, wildlife, lakes, mountains, open space.
  • Ski and snowboard at Mt. Washington in winter; in summer enjoy alpine hikes.
  • Cathedral Grove is a must stop each time you travel "up island".   Explore the magnificent trees in the forest on a wood boardwalk...it's just off the highway...and a magical experience each time you stop to take a 15 minute walk, to see the trees, and breathe in nature.
  • Big cities, small towns, and surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Salish Sea, and most of it within walking distance of your home.  Big box shopping with stores like Costco, Walmart, and Best Buy.  This is not a tiny secluded island, it is a huge island, with all the services you would expect from any big city.

In Victoria the working harbour offers Orca whale watching, ferries to Seattle and Pt. Angeles (Washington state in the USA), sea planes, water taxis, boating, kayaks, canoes, SUB and of course a picturesque paved walkway all around the harbour for your morning run or afternoon walk.  Victoria is a major city with all the restaurants, boutique and big store shopping, and services you may need.  Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and the Legislative Building and park facing the inner harbour is impressive, especially at night.

We have recruited physicians who now live in beautiful large homes overlooking the ocean, in cozy cottages in the forest, new condos, and even on a houseboat!  The choice of homes/condos/neighbourhoods is incredible!
