The Collegiate Medical Centre are looking for a 2-8 session Salaried GP to support our increasing list size. We are a 14,000 list size GMS training practice using EMIS web, Docman 10 and Footfall.

We are an ambitious and supportive team and are pleased to work with colleagues at all points of their careers. The Collegiate is committed to training doctors of the future and is a training practice for ST2 and ST3 doctors. We also host medical students from Manchester University.

We are part of a well established Primary Care Network.

We are committed to ongoing training and all our staff have regular clinical meetings including monthly educations sessions, significant events and mentoring sessions. We do not have a duty doctor and are home visit light.

Main duties of the job

To support the practice and manage a busy and varied clinical caseload. The appointees will form a close working relationship with the practice / services where they are providing primary care services. They will take on the commitment of providing high quality and consistent care as an integral member of the team. A degree of flexibility will be required, along with willingness to adapt to fluctuations in practice workload and be adaptable to the day to day demands of a busy general practice / urgent care workload.

About us

We currently have 4 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, a Physician Associate, ANP, 3 Practice Nurses, Mental health practitioner, Social prescriber, HCA and a large Admin staff. In addition, we currently have 5 GP trainees. We are in a large building and have private secure parking. We are a member of the Cheetham & Crumpsall PCN

Job description & responsibilities

  • In accordance with the service’s timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies, telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient test results,( patient medical reports and examinations for Insurance Companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters NHS/private paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner;
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation;
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards;
  • Collecting data for audit purposes;
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
  • Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or nationally agreed guidelines.
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working
  • From time to time there will be an expectation of flexibility if appropriate to service delivery

Person Specification & Qualifications

Essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Understanding of the pressures faced by GPs and healthcare teams
  • Current registration with the GMC and appropriate representation with a recognised medical defence organisation
  • Strong levels of IT proficiency and familiarity with primary care clinical systems (EMIS WEB). Experience in using the Microsoft suite of programmes
