Please read on to discover more about a Nurse Associate role at a well established and high achieving surgery in the St John's Wood area of London.
The role is a training practice and the Partners are dedicated to the development of their staff. The surgery are looking to expand the Nursing team to include one or more Nursing Associates. They would welcome applications from all Nursing Associates, whether you are highly experienced or newly qualified, looking for a supportive environment to start or develop your career.
Key Duties
- Phlebotomy
- Cervical Smear Taking
- Child and Adult Immunisations
- Wound Care
- Stock Management
- Be able to assist the registered nurse in the on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.
- Provide and monitor care
- Support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living, providing person-centred care and promoting health and independence through awareness raising and care navigation to other professionals as appropriate.
- Undertake routine procedures to meet the patients nursing needs to include: Wound Care Child and Adult Immunisations, Cervical Smear Taking, Phlebotomy.
- Carry out immunisations in accordance with local and national PGD's (on completion of additional training).
- Provide general and specific health screening, including cervical cytology (on completion of training) to the practice population, referring to the appropriate Health Care Professional when necessary.
- Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times
- Demonstrate the ability to recognise changing priorities seeking advice and guidance from Senior Nurses or other Health Care professionals as appropriate.
- Report back and share information on the condition, behaviour, activity and responses of individuals.
- Recognise issues related to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns as appropriate.
- Assist in the delivery of complex care
- Develop understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions for example dementia, mental illness and learning disabilities.
- Prioritise and manage own workload, recognising where elements of care can safely be delegated to other colleagues, carers and family members.
- Provide and receive sensitive information concerning patient's medical conditions.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with policy and NMC Code of Conduct.
- Support and participate in shared learning
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support junior members of the team, providing guidance when necessary
Package and Benefits
- Hours: FT/PT - upto 37.5 hours per week Mon-Sat
- Salary £25,000-28,000 depending on experience
Key Skills, Qualifications and Client Requirements
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register
- Nursing Associate Foundation Degree qualification
- GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
