We pride ourselves on having a pleasant, positive working environment, enjoying social events throughout the year. We are looking for a like minded GP to join our multi-disciplinary team.

We have 2 premises, situated in the attractive south coastal town of Bournemouth, with good schools and travel links in the local area. Gervis Road Surgery is within walking distance of the beach, great way to spend those lunchbreaks and maybe an after-work stroll during the warmer months.

  • GMS List size of 15700
  • 4 Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1 ANP, 3 Paramedic Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses and an HCA
  • Established training practice with registrars and medical students
  • Inspected by CQC  26th March 2019 with good in all areas

We are part of the Central Bournemouth PCN providing network services to our patients including Physio, Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Health Coaches, and our Frailty team.  

Due to the pandemic the practice has made some positive changes to the working day which has a mixture of e-Consultations, Telephone calls and face to face appointments. Triaging has given patients better timely access to GP services. There is currently the opportunity to also work from home remotely and flexible working.

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, e-Consultations, prescription queries and tasks. Paperwork and patient correspondence in a timely fashion, within the core working hours 8am – 6.30pm
  • To undertake a proportional amount duty doctor and extended hours cover
  • Carry out the completion of medical reports, claim forms and cremation forms
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:

  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, eg prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records
  • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data
  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  • You are invited to attend and participate in regular practice meetings, including meetings related to educational and clinical governance and you may on occasion be invited to attend Partners meetings on relevant business matters. You will be given reasonable notice of such meetings. Should these meetings fall outside your days/sessions of work, unless attendance is mandated by the Partners, then the attendance would be in your own time. If you are unable to attend the meetings, the practice will send out the minutes of these meetings by email and it is asked that you sign the declaration that these minutes have been received and read by you.
