Job Details

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Care whose primary focus will be to provide specialist palliative medical input to the In-Patient Services. We have a 26 bedded in-patient unit and we also offer a Community Service including Hospice at Home Service and offer 24/7 advice line. We are a training unit for specialty trainees in palliative medicine, and IMT trainees as well as undergraduates from Keele Medical School.

 

You will need at least 4 years full time post graduate training in acute medicine and/or general practice and post graduate qualification e.g. MRCP, MRCGP or equivalent is preferable. Prior experience in Palliative Care is desirable, but not essential. However, experience in medicine for the elderly or general medicine will also be considered as relevant to the post. You need to be fully registered with the GMC. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, compassion and an ability to work in respectful partnership with all members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

 

You will be joining a small team of Specialty Doctors and ANPs, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will deliver high quality professional care to the patients and relatives in the Hospice. You will work closely with the whole clinical team to ensure that we offer the highest standards of care and develop our services to meet the changing needs of our patients. Senior support is provided by the Lead Consultant and an Associate Specialist in Palliative Care.

 

The post offers the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of initiatives such as teaching, research and audit
