Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking expressions of interest from Local Practices or General Practitioners wishing to provide general medical services in the Presteigne area for the GMS contract of Presteigne Medical Practice, Lugg View, Presteinge, Powys LD8 2RJ
Following the surrender of the current independent contractor status, effective from 1st September 2018 the Health Board are inviting expressions of interest from local practices or General Practitioners wishing to provide GMS services in Presteigne.
This EMIS WEB served practice provides services to approximately 3581 patients, covering an area of 140 square miles, from a purpose built medical centre located in the picturesque rural town of Presteigne in Mid Wales. The practice prides itself on providing an efficient, modern and comprehensive service for their patients. The practice works closely with the local community and Knighton Community Hospital along with Llandrindod Community Hospital (20.5 miles away), and Hereford District General Hospital (23.1 miles away).
The Town of Presteigne was originally the county town of the historic county of Radnorshire, sitting on the south bank of the River Lugg, which forms the England–Wales border as it passes the town. Nearby towns are Kington to the south (6.8 Miles) and Knighton to the north (6.7 miles). Presteigne and its nearby neighbouring village of Norton benefit from being twinned with the town of Ligné near Nantes, France, with frequent exchange visits between the two communities.
This invitation for expressions of interest comprises the first stage in a short process that will enable the practice to continue to provide GMS from the 1st September 2018. Expressions of interest should be received no later than 4pm 21st June 2018, and should be made via email to: Andrew.Powell2@wales.nhs.uk
This need only consist of a brief confirmation that you are interested in submitting a business case in application of taking over this GMS contract. Following receipt of your interest, you will be provided with an information pack containing details of the current service provision, practice finances and a template against which you will be asked to complete a full business case. A Health Board Panel will be convened too assess each business case, interview the applicants and make the final decision to award a new GMS contract.
