Break into Prison Healthcare!
At HMP Pentonville there is a large purpose built healthcare centre which has inpatient unit, a day care facility for patients with mental health problems that are managed on the wings. There are also a number of consulting rooms both within the main prison and in the Healthcare Centre.
On each of the wings there is a primary care facility incorporating a GP's clinic and area for dispensing of medication. These also include; Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry & Physiotherapy.

We’ll utilise the wellbeing model to put patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do through assessing prisoners across 5 domains of; physical and mental wellbeing, substance misuse, relationships and resettlement. The patient and clinician complete a wellbeing wheel assessment to set goals and outcomes in partnership. The patient will complete the assessment and any needs identified will be met by our fully integrated service delivery team.
About the Job
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.
It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.
In this environment we appreciate flexibility around working hours hence we are willing to accommodate part time requests. We offer a competitive annual salary plus reimburstment of MDU/MPS subscription (pro-rata for part-time). Furthermore should you wish there are plenty of opportunities for extra shifts and overtime.
The salary for this role is £95,000-£110,000 - dependent on experience + Indemnity (pro-rata). We also welcome Full-time and Bank applications.
