Advisory Committee on Borderline Substances (ACBS) Chair (EC17-30) and GP committee Member (EC17-58)

The ACBS advises the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care on the borderline substances (nutritional and dermatological products) which are safe and suitable for NHS prescription in the community. Committee members will have the opportunity to contribute towards decision making on these products and gain an insight in to prescribing policy.

The role of Chairperson requires a clinical professional with an outstanding record of achievement, personal credibility and senior level experience in the specialty of dietetics. The role of GP committee member also requires these qualities but in the field of general practice.

Candidates for either role need to have a sound knowledge of nutritional and dermatological formulations as well as knowledge about practical experience of using clinical research methodologies. The ability to assimilate information presented and interrogate and understand research is also required.

A time commitment of up to 9 days per year is required. There is no remuneration for these posts but expenses are paid.
